Pataki “almost tore his stiches out”
April 26, 2006 at 9:33 pm | Posted in Sports | 1 CommentGovernor Pataki hosted the UAlbany basketball team to lunch at the Governors mansion on Tuesday afternoon. He was in the hospital recooperating from surgery when the Great Danes took on the top seeded UConn Huskies in the first round of NCAA tournament action. The Governor said that he “nearly tore his stiches out cheering for them.”
Pataki and the team shot a few hoops after lunch, in which the Governor took a few practice shots before hitting his first field goal.
I think that the invitation to the Mens Basketball team was greatly appreciated and well worth it for the team. They have gotten many opportunities to meet and greet their fans, and this was an extra special one. All the major media outlets covered the event.

Nice find. Hadn’t heard about this story. If all media outlets covered the event, why didn’t you link to one of them? Would have liked a player’s comment, especially after you wrote, “…was greatly appreciated and well worth it for the team.”
