Know yourself
April 26, 2006 at 10:58 pm | Posted in Health | Leave a commentCBS6News reported a story about patient medication safety tips from Ellis Hospital in Schenectady. In the case of an emergency, it is extremely important for a health care professional to know your medical history to better treat you in a prompt and efficent manner.
If you have your information memorized, you can be cared for faster. I have personally been effected by this situation. My grandmother was very ill and rushed to the hospital by ambulance many different times. She luckily had all of her medications that she was currently taking written down on a piece of paper that she kept in her pocket, or right by her side. This helped immensly in her medical care.
Ellis Hospital urges people to make a list of their medications in case of an emergency.
