U.S. Journalist running out of time

February 15, 2006 at 9:51 pm | Posted in World News | 1 Comment

As we all know, U.S. Journalist Jill Carroll has been kidnapped by the Iraqis.  She still fights for her life, not knowing what the result will be.

According to the Albany Times Union, video tapes have been released that show Carroll alive and well, yet there is an expiration of time that is becoming closer and closer.  Iraqis say that if the U.S. doesn’t cooperate with them, and fails to release all women Iraqi prisioners by February 28th, time is up for Jill Carroll.

With only being able to see her daughter, Mary Beth Carroll, Jills mother, relays a message of her own back to Iraq.  With an Iraqi voice-over, she insists that he daughter be set free.  She says that Jill is a young journalist who worked hard to publicize the suffering of Iraqis.   But without actually seeing and hearing her daughter, the Carroll’s have to rely on praying and the faith in their country that they do the right thing.

For now, I think that we should keep close attention focused on this plea for release.  The scheduled date for any advancements, positivie or negative, is set to happen on or before February 28th.  With little information to base facts on right now, we just have to wait and see what happens.

  1. Moving and emotional topic. You handled this well and achieved your goal of reminding us about Jill Carroll.

    Couple of things:

    “positivie” is misspelled

Your sentence “With only being able to see her daughter, Mary Beth Carroll, Jills mother, relays a message of her own back to Iraq. ” could be written much better, perhaps by using two sentences instead of one.
    For example:
Jill’s mother, Mary Beth Carroll, has only seen her daughter on TV. In response to the kidnapper’s videos, she has relayed her own message back to Iraq.
